(notes) Being authentically you

April 28, 2025 • 2 min read

Today I finally decided to make/publish a personal website.

I realized I was too scared to do so before.

This made me realize three things about how I talk to ppl, and how I build my brand.

1. "Personal brand" shouldn't exist.

This is by far one of the most important things I realized in the past few years.

There really is no such thing as personal brand (at least in the sense that ppl talk about it) -- if you truely want an outstanding personal brand, the easyest way is to just BE YOURSELF.

Being inauthentic is one of the largest killers of personal brand.

For me -- being authentic was not splitting my entrepranoural ventures with my creative endeavors hey that rhymes :). I've always struggled to combine these, simply because it's not something you see often. -- yet for me, it's something that needs combining

Anyways, the entire idea is that personal brand is actually just you being fully yourself. The best way to captivate an audience is to suprise them with authenticity in our inauthentic world.

2. Done > Perfect

Sometimes we end up worrying too much about what other people think.

I know for me, I do this a lot; and I just end up doing nothing in the end.

The best way to stop, is to embrase imperfection.

The way I do this (even now), is limiting how much I actually edit things like this. This blog is meant to be mostly for raw thoughts. I can't get that from simply doing nothing.

Anyways, the idea here is to focus on getting stuff done rather than other ppl's opinions

3. Have fun

"The last rule in every summer camp ever" Having fun is the reason a lot of us do the things we do. We wanna be happy, and doing things that just seem fun makes us more happy. I realized there's no reason (at all) to stop doing things I was feeling were fun.

There is one caviot to this though: it should net-benifit you. ex.People have said drugs are fun but they aren't good for you.

Anyways, the idea is to just do things that you find fun -- and you'll naturally grow your audience.

Closing thoughts

Don't focus on growing your audience or "personal brand" Focus on being you in public.

Thats all for now :D *I'll start posting these on substack :
